About Us: History

The story begins in November 2019. Our family farm was destroyed by the Black Summer Fires. We were forced to start again. We were aware droughts, flooding and fires were inevitable with the increased risk of climate change, so we decided to do something different with the way we farmed. Our dream is for our farmland to be altered from a monoculture of beef cattle to an abundant ecosystem which will sustain our family and the community.

Our approach to this is as a scientific experiment. To the locals, the soil is seen as 'average' being heavy clay loam, which is a challenge we are keen to face head-on. Through on-site composting, construction of swales, dam systems and revegetation we aspire to improve the soil quality to allow for greater water storage capacity and overall biodiversity within the soil.

We are currently in the construction phase of building a modern off-the-grid home for our family. Our pursuit is to be surrounded by edible gardens, native bush, food forests and market gardens- all which serve a purpose for either us (humans), livestock, birds, native wildlife, microbes or soil health. AND... having fun with our tribe at the same time. Wish us luck :)
